Moonscapes

Inspired by underground farms and research into the future of agriculture to create a speculative and 'alien' version of farms which plays on the prevalence of house plants as decor.

On Earth we have mistreated our natural resources to the point of no return, plants and botany bearing the brunt of this destruction. Circadian Agriculture provides a sustainable oxygen supply to your interstellar home whilst nurturing the natural rhythms of earthly plant life. Pink light activates a ‘work’ mode wherein the plants are stimulated as if under sunlight, creating oxygen. A blue ‘rest’ period allows plants a simulation of earth’s night time, and can settle back to their natural positions (dependent on gravitational pull of the inhabiting planet). This has been found to yield the highest quantity and quality of oxygen.

The Project was shown as part of the Moonscapes Exhibition shown at the Lumen Crypt Gallery which celebrated the 50th anniversary of the moon landing.
